Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia is organizing one-day Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Program in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) on Friday 9th February at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room of FTK Centre for Information Technology, JMI.
In today’s globalized world, Intellectual property is a key driving force in business competitiveness and socio-economic growth. In India too, especially since the announcement of its first National IPR Policy in May 2016, the focus on IP has come to the country’s economic forefront. A key recommendation of the IPR Policy relates to generating public awareness about the economic, social-cultural benefits of IP rights among all sections of society through awareness, outreach and promotion activities. It is essential to inculcate an IP sensitive culture in society – that intangible property also merits the same level of protection and respect as tangible property.
The objective of the program is to educate all IP stakeholders, including students of educational institutions about the key aspects of IP rights and its vital role in the growth of a country.
The program is spread over four interactive sessions to deal with the various aspects of Intellectual Property Rights. Ms. Shweta Singh, Founder & CEO, Ennoble IP & Women Innovation Entrepreneurship Foundation, Ms. Lohita Sujith, Director, Corporate Communications, Motion Picture Association, India office, Dr. Prithipal Singh, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs, Ministry of Commerce & Industry are among the speakers in the various sessions.
The program is coordinated by Mr Dipankar Barkakati, Head of IPR Division, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Prof. Nuzhat Parveen Khan Dean, Faculty of Law, JMI.
